The MicroCollect™ oral collection and preservation device is designed to collect and preserve oral cell or microbial communities in the mouth. The MicroCollect™ Oral Cell Collection and Preservation Device is a user-friendly and ready-to-use method that brings participant comfort and interference-free results for a range of research.

Each kit contains two sets of swab and collection tube containing preservation reagent, which is convenient for two collections. This device using nylon flocking swab which is superior to traditional fiber swab, can maximize the collection and release of the oral specimen. The indentation on the head of the swab makes the swab easy to break after sampling, while traditional swabs need scissors to shear, which may introduce contamination. The preservative solution can ensure cell integrity and the physical-chemical integrity of DNA during long-time storage or transportation. This validated device can provide confidence in the accuracy of the results.

Instructions for Use

Each MicroCollect™ Oral Cell Collection and Preservation Device includes two sets of swab and collection tube containing preservation reagent. The instructions for use are as follows:

1. Before sampling, please fill in the information card. The sampler needs to rinse the mouth with clean water and swallow it sufficiently.
2. Take out the disposable sample swab according to the packing tips of the sample swab and do not contact the sterile swab on any surface.
3. Vigorously rub behind molar teeth, the roof of mouth and cheek for 3 minutes with sufficient pressure.
4. Carefully break the swab on the indentation position and make the swab head fall into the tube. Ensure the sample is well submerged under the preservative.
5. Place the tube into a biospecimen bag.

*Matters needing attention:

Samples collected can be preserved for a long time at -20°C or -80°C. Repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided during storage and transportation.
